Company
Edunaut
Duration
June 2020 - May 2021
Background
Edunaut was an online platform dedicated to helping learners discover online learning resources (such as MOOCs, YouTube playlists, and degrees), collaborate on projects, and create learning pathways. I co-founded Edunaut with my college friends and ran it for nearly a year before shutting it down as we were unable to scale it organically.
Responsibilities
- [June-July] To kick off the development process, I built web crawlers and scrapers to source course and video details from over 20 online course providers, including Coursera, edX, Udemy, LinkedIn Learning, and YouTube. We also analyzed the different parameters we collect from each of the platforms to merge all the sourced data in a single table for cleaning and enriching.
- [June-July] As part of the data enrichment process, we developed an internal category-subcategory mapping and re-tagged all the sourced products. We also collated a list of over 10,000 tags (such as “Data Science”, “Python”, “Pandas”, “Art”, “Music”, and “Hip-Hop”) and tagged them to each of the courses to improve discoverability.
- [July-November] After assembling a small team of designers and developers, we started on the MVP of the Edunaut website with just a search and compare functionality. After an initial launch in September, we collected and incorporated user feedback before launching the website in October.
- [October-May] After our website launch, my focus changed to acquiring users organically through content marketing and social outreach, while parallelly conducting user interviews and improving our product.
In addition to my full-time role, I help small businesses build their first set of products, including landing pages, dashboards, internal applications, and marketing automations. Reach out if you are looking for an active collaborator on your next project!
