Background
Roundups is a simple, secure, and swift way to invest your spare change in mutual funds and gold. The app automatically invests your change when you make everyday purchases to help you grow your wealth passively and conveniently. I started consulting them to improve their product offerings and positioning between early June and mid-November.
How does Roundups work?
The app analyzes your SMS inbox and detects relevant spending data like your receipts, bills, and even travel expenses. We then round up your transactions to the nearest hundredth and invest the difference in a portfolio of mutual funds. For example, when you spend Rs. 150, you get an SMS regarding the transaction on your phone. We analyze this SMS and round up the transaction to Rs. 200. Then we invest the difference of Rs. 50 into a portfolio of mutual funds.
Responsibilities
As a product consultant, I was responsible for both strategic and tactical decisions on how the product evolved. Since we were still at a very nascent stage, we focused on enhancing the user experience by streamlining the application's functionality and refining the user interface, and optimizing navigation for smoother usage.
During my time at Roundups, we improved our offerings significantly, launching / re-launching 5+ features, improving our Google Playstore rating by ~0.5 points, and increasing our downloads by ~5X and active users by ~10X (as of October 2021).
Recognition
